PROGRAMMES OFFERED
The B.Tech degree programme in Marine Engineering spanning 8 semesters has an exhaustive curriculum designed to provide the students with a modern and sound education in basic science and engineering subjects, along with an in-depth knowledge of the various facets of Marine Engineering. An intensive practical training of 6 months duration is given to all cadets inside the DG approved Ship-in-Campus Lab and in the machinery overhauling workshop.Students also get chances to go on board ships to acquire machinery maintenance experience.
KMSME conducts DG approved courses (both at operational and management level) on Engine Room Simulator. The Engine Room Simulator provides facilities to meet the international and national training requirements for engineer officers at MEO Class IV, Class II and Class I levels. the trainees are given experience of tackling emergency situations, various operational aspects of the vessel and its machinery, troubleshooting and role-play excercises during the training.
M.Tech Degree in Marine Engineering for the first time in the country by a Government University is also available for 18 students for year. The full time M.Tech programme offered by KMSME shall be of four semesters duration spanning over a period of two academic years. The students are offered with lectures by eminent and well-experienced professinals from the related industry. Also the institute is in tie-up with Cochin Shipyard Limited for the conduct of Metallurgy Laboratory training and industrial visits and internship programmes.
B.TECH IN MARINE ENGINEERING

Total intake-80 (including 4 NRIs and 2 transgender).
Eligibility
Pass in the Plus Two Examination of the State of Kerala or any other examinations
accepted as equivalent there to with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English
as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60% marks and minimum
50% for Mathematics alone. Should have passed English at 10th or 12th Standards
with 50% marks (No relaxation to SC/ST and SEBC Candidates).
Maximum age limit prescribed is 25 years as on 1st September of the year of
admission. Physical and eye fitness certificate from a medical officer approved by
the DG Shipping should be produced at the time of admission.

Students for B. Tech Marine Engineering course at Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering will be admitted based on the rank list of Common Entrance
Test (CET) conducted by Indian Maritime University (IMU) from the Academic Year 2022 - 23 onwards. Hence, students wishing for admission for B Tech Marine
Engineering at Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering will have to attend CET conducted by Indian Maritime University and subsequently upload the rank
certificate issued by Indian Maritime University.
ENGINE ROOM SIMULATOR COURSE (MANAGEMENT LEVEL)
The Full Mission Engine Room Simulator Course (Management / Operational Level) conducted at K M School
of Marine Engineering, Cochin University of Science and Technology is approved by Directorate General of Shipping ,Govt. of India,
meets the requirements laid down in Regulation 1/12, Code A-1/12 and B-1/12.73 of STCW Convention 1978 as amended and is in
compliance of IMO Model Course 2.07(Engine Room Simulator).
- Duration : 5 Days , 100% attendance and a score of not less than 70% in the Internal assessment is compulsory ,those who failed will have to repeat the course paying the fee again
- Timing : 9 AM to 4 PM
- Number of seats : 12 (Minimum strength should not be less than 5)
- No accomodation provided

Even though we don't insist on a formal dress code please present yourself in a gentleman attire. Kindly refrain from wearing chappals and round neck t-shirts without collars.
