National Service Scheme at KMSME

In the Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering, the NSS unit (CUSAT NSS Unit No. 7) was established in 2017. Since then, our volunteers have actively engaged in various facets of social work. Being budding sailors, it is imperative that we always put ourselves in the line of action whenever the situation calls. Duty was, is, and will always remain as our top priority. We learn to put ourselves before others in times of crisis and are ready to reciprocate our commitments to society. Undoubtedly, an ideal sailor at sea is also a humanitarian on land. Here at KMSME, NSS strives to create sailors with a social cause. Volunteering in NSS is not mandatory, but it is instrumental in developing soft skills. Through this, we intend to forge the cadets up and ready to face the challenges of life and present them with a chance to be the changemakers of our country. NSS instills social and moral values in our cadets. We intend to boost self-morale, confidence, and discipline. NSS also provides them opportunities to grow out of their shell and promote their creativity, productivity, and leadership skills. The volunteers are also given basic training in disaster management by experts, whichenables them to acquire such skills first-hand.
