Women Empowerment in KMSME

K M School of Marine Engineering, from its very beginning, is at the forefront of training female cadets. We take pride in the fact that the very first female marine engineer of Kerala, Ms. Nila John, is our alumnus. Her saga is continued by the increasing number of female cadets year after year.

To encompass the ever-growing needs of our female cadets, the administration has provided the best facilities possible. They have a separate girls’ hostel, par with our male cadet's hostel. All our female cadets are placed by the end of their course, provided they havea good record of academic performance. They can also benefit from the fee waiver provided by D G Shipping of India, which intends to promote more females to conquer the oceans.

We provide equal opportunity without any bias. The administration strives to create an environment of equality, harmony, and safety for our budding seafarers. To ensure they don't face discrimination of any kind from their classmates, gender sensitization classes are provided by reputed psychiatrists . Female cadets can avail of other facilities providing sanitary napkins at a discounted rate, a separate ladies’ retiring room within the college, and separate swimming training. We also have a highly active, independent women's cell that meets regularly. The women's cell is a fully female body, headed by a female faculty member, with representatives from all the batches.
