National Maritime Day Celebration Committee (NMDCC), which operates under the Mercantile Marine Department, Kochi, plays a pivotal role in promoting maritime awareness and celebrating India's maritime heritage. NMDCC has been actively organizing events to highlight the contributions of the maritime sector towards national development. Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering (KMSME) is the only Marine Engineering Training Institute in the country that operates under the direct control of a State Government University. Established under the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), it is a leading institution dedicated to training future marine engineers.
